This is used and has some very minor scratches and small pencil marks in it that can be painted over or lightly sanded down.

Keep your laptop computer on the slide out shelf and keep it there when you slide the shelf back in. There is plenty of room, 3 1/2".
When the shelf is slid out you have plenty of room to sit in a chair comfortably while typing on your keyboard.

Surface measurements of the very top which slightly over hangs from the rest of the cabinet.

This has been in my daughter room and she has used it more as a cabinet.
It has the original white paint on it.
It can easily be painted to whatever color fits your room.
