Our client built its business by utmost or exceedingly great in apparel for high intensity, physically demanding extreme sports enthusiasts of a dare devil. We're seeking a Assistant Controller for a publicly traded high performance extreme sporting manufacturing company in the south bay. The Ideal candidate will have 4 years' in Public Accounting , Additional experience in SEC Reporting , Cost and Technical Accounting and have a Manufacturing background. (Prefer raw materials) Candidate will have prior experience leading ERP implementations Additionally the Assistant Controller will manage daily Accounting operations and oversee a staff of 20 . Software experience with Oracle strongly preferred. Responsibilities Oversee the all finance and accounting operations of extreme suspension business unit. Oversee the SEC/external reporting requirements for the Company Plan, coordinate and lead the quarterly external auditor reviews and annual year end audit Assure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and performing research and guidance on various technical accounting matters Issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements of the business unit and Company on a monthly and quarterly basis Working with the Manager of Internal Audit, maintain a system of internal controls over both business unit and global accounting transactions Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and perform ad-hoc analysis as well as projects Prepare budgets and forecasts, sales and product plans, analyze manufacturing costs and variances, research, advise and report on profitability Manage a diverse group of global finance and accounting employees. Act as a mentor to junior staff, set direction for the group, and conduct performance reviews Effectively work with peers and leaders in both Finance and non-Finance organizations Qualified Experience & Attributes A Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Accounting. 5+ years in public accounting, preferably big four, having at least achieved the position of manager. 7+ years in industry with previous roles which include (1) SEC / External Reporting (2) Accounting Manager and (3) Assistant Controller or Controller with most, if not all, within public companies. Prior discrete manufacturing experience with cost accounting management is strongly preferred. Experience with Oracle ERP and related analytic tools is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate competencies and prior accomplishments in business leadership, operational oversight, technical accounting, external reporting, & tax. Additionally, key character traits include a collaborative approach to solving business challenges while maintaining a “the buck stops here" leadership style. Candidates should possess a natural desire to understand and “get involved" in the many aspects of our business with an eye on the details for all areas under his/her supervision
